126. WHO WERE THE 12 DISCIPLES OF JESUS? For that answer we need to go to Matthew 10:2-4,
"NOW THE NAMES OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES ARE THESE; THE FIRST SIMON, WHO IS CALLED PETER, AND ANDREW HIS BROTHER; JAMES THE SON OF ZEBEDEE, AND JOHN HIS BROTHER;
PHILIP, AND BARTHOLOMEW; THOMAS, AND MATTHEW THE PUBLICAN; JAMES THE SON OF ALPHAEUS, AND LEBBAEUS, WHOSE SURNAME WAS THADDAEUS;
SIMON THE CANAANITE, AND JUDAS ISCARIOT, WHO ALSO BETRAYED HIM."
127. WHO WAS THE WISEST OF ALL THE DISCIPLES AND THE DISCIPLE CLOSEST TO JESUS? John, the writer of the book of John. You can tell who was the closest to JESUS and who was the wisest disciple by reading their books. Of all the books written by the disciples of JESUS only the book of John is the most indepth and most powerful book written. The book of John has more quanity and quality than any other book written by the disciples. Some say that Simon Peter was the closest but not so. We can see by his books-1 and 2 Peter that he was not as close to JESUS as John was.
128. WHO WAS THE DISCIPLE WHO WAS LEANING ON JESUS' BREAST AT THE LAST SUPPER? John. The Holy Bible says in John 13:21-26,
"WHEN JESUS HAD THUS SAID, HE WAS TROUBLED IN SPIRIT, AND TESTIFIED, AND SAID, VERILY, VERILY, I SAY UNTO YOU, THAT ONE OF YOU SHALL BETRAY ME.
THEN THE DISCIPLES LOOKED ONE ON ANOTHER, DOUBTING OF WHOM HE SPAKE.
NOW THERE WAS LEANING ON JESUS' BOSOM ONE OF HIS DISCIPLES, WHOM JESUS LOVED.
SIMON PETER THEREFORE BECKONED TO HIM, THAT HE SHOULD ASK WHO IT SHOULD BE OF WHOM HE SPAKE.
HE THEN LYING ON JESUS' BREST SAITH UNTO HIM, LORD, WHO IS IT?
JESUS ANSWERED, HE IT IS TO WHOM I SHALL GIVE A SOP, WHEN I HAVE DIPPED IT. AND WHEN HE HAD DIPPED THE SOP, HE GIVE IT TO JUDAS ISCARIOT, THE SON OF SIMON."
Now in this part of Holy Scripture we see that one of the disciples of JESUS was leaning on His bosom. The Holy Bible doesn't say exactly who he was but since the book of John is the only reference to this account in this detail we can clearly see that the disciple who was on the bosom of JESUS was in fact John.
Peter, James and John comprised the inner circle of disciples so that disciple who was leaning of the bosom of JESUS had to have been one one these three disciples.
Also the Holy Bible speaks of that disciple as the disciple whom JESUS loved. In John 21:20 in the Holy Bible,
"THEN PETER, TURNING ABOUT, SEETH THE DISCIPLE WHOM JESUS LOVED FOLLOWING; WHICH ALSO LEANED ON HIS BREAST AT SUPPER, AND SAID, LORD, WHICH IS HE THAT BETRAYETH THEE?
Also in John 19:26-27 in the Holy Bible,
"WHEN JESUS THEREFORE SAW HIS MOTHER, AND THE DISCIPLE STANDING BY, WHOM HE LOVED, HE SAITH UNTO HIS MOTHER, WOMAN, BEHOLD THY SON!
THEN SAITH HE TO THE DISCIPLE, BEHOLD THY MOTHER! AND FROM THAT HOUR THAT DISCIPLE TOOK HER UNTO HIS OWN HOME."
Clearly we see that the disciple whom JESUS loved is John and it is John who is leaning on the bosom of JESUS at the "Last Supper".
